Run like a Xenomorph is after you.

Some days, despite all my best efforts, I'm just so damn tired.

I just want to go back to bed. For the rest of the day.

And yet I also want to be up and doing things. Writing, drawing, riding my bike.

I was considering doing the first day of week five of C25K today, or a fourth day of week four training. I don't HAVE to do it; I've already done the three days for week four and the training schedule allows a second day of rest before starting week five.

"Look into my eye!"
Aliens, 20th Century Fox

I need Sarge from Aliens to motivate me today. I need Sarge yelling, "Get on the ready line, Marine! Get some! Move it out, goddamn it!"

I would love to lift Sarge's whole ooh-rah pep talk from the movie and make a sound file thingie for my mp3 player, if I knew how to do such things. From 1:04 where he starts out, "All right sweethearts, we're a team and there's nothing to worry about." to about 1:56 where it fades out with him counting.

But I don't know how to do such things, plus I think it's illegal. I wouldn't sell it or anything, that's rude, just use it to motivate me. I guess I'll just have to watch the video clip a few times and not concern myself about the fact that later in the movie... Sarge (and all the rest of those Marines except Hicks) is killed by those damn aliens.

I think I'll make some tshirts. Handmade, I mean. I took TheDaughter to Hobby Lobby yesterday so she could buy fabric paint and a tshirt to try decorating. I think I'll get some of my own fabric paint and tshirts in nice neon colors (safety first!) and make a bunch of running shirts with Sarge's lines on them. Yep, that's the ticket.

  1. If "The Plan" says rest. Then rest. Especially if you are sore or feeling tired a lot.

You get more leeway on when you take rest days after your body is more used to the abuse you're dishing out.

    1. The tiredness is mostly from my anemia, which I can't do anything about because it's related to my beta thalassemia minor. Iron supplements don't do any good. It's aggravated by my the depression from my bipolar disorder. It's not tiredness from overwork, I promise. At this stage of the game I know the difference. I actually feel better after doing the workout. I promise.
